As F4ST Project Partnership, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. In this last e-bulletin of 2007, we would like to summarize main Project activities that had been completed in the 1st year of the Project

After the sign of contract between National Agency (N.A.) and Kalite Sistem Central Laboratories (KSL) on 10.10.2006, project activities had been started. 5 Executive Board Meetings (E.B.M) were conducted via F4ST mail group which was also used a tool for effective and sustainable communication. 6 partnership meetings (P.M) were held in Istanbul and Spain totally. Auditing partner evaluated all project activities to check if they were conducted in accordance with the quality targets of F4ST. Moreover, auditing partner reviewed technical content of the training material. The result of auditing partner evaluation on the project activities was shared with consortium. Staff categories were reorganized and main project activities were rescheduled according to the needs raised from implementation of the project.

Dissemination and valorization activities have been started with web page (www.f4st-ec.org) establishment in Turkish and English. The web page contains information on F4ST, 135 useful documents and 76 URL addresses on food safety. An intranet, restricted just for partners, was established and username and password were provided for partners. 12 English and Turkish E-bulletins have been prepared and distributed to 50 000 people in total. The communication with the public has been provided by e-bulletins with its growing distribution list from month to month.

Each partner prepared a report (WP3 reports) which includes the background analysis of Food Safety Training and infrastructure of food safety organization in their country. After completing these reports which had main aim to determine the current Food Safety Education needs, partners submitted detailed outlines of the modules they would develop. WP3 report results have been disseminated through e-bulletins as describing F4ST needs in partner countries. Distribution list has been upgraded with the contact lists provided with WP3 reports.

Partners were provided with the instructions for writing e-learning training by coordinator. Then the content of training modules (9 modules; 81 lectures with their power point slides and speech text; 900 exam questions) had been started to develop. At time period covered by this report, 69 lectures which include totally 2778 power point slides, their speech text and 469 exam questions were completed with referring 436 further reading materials and they still have been under the auditing partner revision
e-learning interface had been determined and the prototype was prepared for training content provider partners. The instructions and program were provided for voice recording. Format of Training Certificate has been started to prepare.

IPR issues- trademark rights related with F4ST project had been started and national applications in 5 classes had been completed. International applications have been made to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Right Organization) in 4 classes; it is in the process of individual assessment of each country in the list. 1 press meeting was organized in Istanbul on 20th November 2006. 1 000 leaflet in English was published and distributed. Preparation of Turkish leaflet has been started. More than 15 news was pressed in newspapers and journals in addition to news placed on several web pages. Project partners gave linkage to F4ST project on their web site. Moreover when partners participate in to international congress and workshops, they have also disseminated project. Valorization activities have been also carried out by monthly e-bulletins. The F4ST poster was prepared to present in international events.
