Greater Manchester, UK Professor Eunice Taylor The International Centre for HACCP Innovation (ICHI) is a research center of the University of Salford. ICHI specializes in research, consultancy and education in the risk management methodologies of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and similar approaches such as Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA). ICHI has received the largest amount of UK Government HACCP research funding of all UK Institutions in 2003-5. The team at Salford led the development of the UK Food Standards Agency’s Safer Food Better Business methodology of HACCP for the food service, retail and catering sectors. ICHI has trained over 200 UK Environmental Health Officers in HACCP for food service, retail and catering sectors; as well as a similar number in HACCP for manufacturing. It has also trained enforcement officers for Governments in the Middle and Far East. It has jointly developed European’s first Post Graduate Certificate in HACCP for Agronomy that include Certificates in HACCP for Manufacturing and HACCP for food service, retail and catering. ICHI has considerable experience in the undertaking of research and training projects; has trained many UK and overseas enforcement officers (including developing appropriate curriculum and assessment structures); and is one of the leading proponents of distance/electronic learning in HACCP and risk management. Main tasks of ICHI’s within F4ST will be: to transfer their knowledge to F4ST; to determine the food safety training needs in food safety in UK for establishing of the training modules; to disseminate F4ST results during and end of the project ;to coordinate its own national dissemination activities; to find 150 trainees from UK to register for training sessions, to take part in the preparation of training modules (HACCP); to organize at least one press meeting during the project lifetime. |
