Turkish Food Safety Association, (GGD), was founded in February 2004 by the members of Turkish Society for Quality from food sector and established as a separate association. It is the first and unique NGO related Food Safety issues in Turkey about Food Safety with its 62 members. Its vision is being the leading institution in developing food safety concept in Turkey for consumers and producers covering all stages from production to consumption.

GGD has been analyzing the training needs of the sector and organizing the seminars or workshops to fulfill these needs and training seminars with EU-MEDA Expert Centre on food safety and legislation to develop continuous cooperation with related local and international bodies. The advisory board of GGD consists of 25 academicians (university professors, key authorities in Ministries, experts on food legislation, experts from Turkish Export Centre) for the assistance & support of its members and the rest of the agro-food industry. The following sub committees are formed for these activities: Professional Training, Clean Kitchen, Food Safety Awarding, Labeling, Training of Primary School Children and Consumer.

In F4ST, GGD will define the food safety training needs of its members, will check whether projects has met the quality target and policy and will establish and apply the auditing program with the predefined criteria with preset periods and to present the reports to the coordinator country. GGD will also take in part in valorization activity. GGD will propose an employment opportunity for graduates of F4ST and disseminate the project’s outcome and benefits to its member and other Food Companies in Turkey
