Thessaloniki Technology Park (TTP) was formed in 1994 in response to the growing need for an efficient and dynamic organization that would promote the innovation, competitiveness and entrepreneurship of the Greek enterprises. TTP main stakeholder is one of the biggest Greek research organizations: Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) including 5 research institutes with specialization in Chemical process, Transports, Informatics and Telematics, Agro biotechnology and Fossil Fuels. Among TTP’s co-founders are: Euro consultants S.A (A leading Consulting company in Greece), the Association of Industries in Northern Greece as well as other leading Greek industries. Since then it has served as industry-research liaison assisting assessment and exploitation of research results, promoting the creation of spin-off companies (Incubator) and new technologies and providing innovation support as well as technology transfer services to the local business community. Having gained strong professional experience over the last 10 years and combining its multidisciplinary knowledge, TTP develops and provides vocational training services. TTP has successfully participated in more than 20 European R&D projects as well as successfully managing 9 trans-national projects (2 current participations in other Leonardo projects). Here it should be mentioned that TTP is considered as a qualified coordinator because it is currently coordinating another project focused on the needs of the Agro-Food sector funded by the EC, DG Information Society (SARA, www.agro-food.net) . This is to ensure the previous technical know-how how and experience in Food related projects, which is a critical quality for the partners of the particular project.

Thessaloniki Technology Park is a Technology Transfer Centre, acting also as Regional Innovation Relay Centre under the “Innovation” EU project. Its main scope is to promote activities, RTD results and provide training to SMEs with special emphasis to agro-food SMEs and other key-players (considering the significant contribution of the sector in the national GDP). TTP has a special group of experts for the assistance & support of agro-food SMEs and close contacts with all the Greek key-players in the field of agro-food sector (Research Centers, Researchers, Food Control Authorities, Academic Institutions, Federation of Food Industries, etc.). Thus, TTP’s activities are mainly targeted in increasing the competitiveness of the Greek economy by providing its services and acting as liaison between the EU and the national key-players.

Main tasks of TTP within F4ST will be: to transfer their knowledge to F4ST; to determine the training needs in food safety in Greek target group for establishing of the training modules; to disseminate and exploitation F4ST results during and end of the project ;to coordinate its own national dissemination activities; to find 150 trainees from Greek to register for training sessions, to take part in the preparation of training modules (Food Chemistry, Physical and Other Biological Agents);to organize at least one press meeting during the project lifetime.
